Reframe’s New Devens Development Tests Robotics’ Role in Construction

Steve Adams at Banker & Tradesman covers Reframe Systems'  2-acre Adams Circle Development in Devens with MassDevelopment. The community will feature six duplexes, 12 units in total averaging 2,100 square feet, including three income-restricted homes. Components will be fabricated at our Andover production facility, with completions scheduled between July and October.

The project is a direct application of the production model we've been building: robots handling the repetitive, physically demanding work of framing, sheeting, and drywalling in the factory, with finished components delivered to the site for assembly. The approach reduces labor costs and construction timelines, addressing two of the core drivers behind housing unaffordability.

Devens itself is also expanding its housing capacity. In November, Governor Healey signed legislation removing the cap on housing units that can be built at the former Army base, and MassDevelopment has since issued an RFP for nearly 70 additional acres of housing development there. We're building into a market that's actively making room for more.
